Land Surveying Field Tech/Rodman
Required Experience:
​
-
Must be a Professionally Licensed Surveyor. Any state is accepted. Resources and assistance for licensure in NC will be provided by Joyner Keeny.

Strong technical knowledge of construction related survey computations and staking plans – such as erosion control, utility, grading and storm drainage and building layout that includes highway, commercial site and subdivision construction.
-
Extensive experience in the use and operation of Robotic total stations and electronic data collectors
-
Experience preparing topo survey, boundary, and ALTA/ACSM survey maps in addition to Plats, Change of Zone maps and easement exhibits.

Solid working knowledge of AutoCAD, Carlson, GIS mapping and MS Office Suite.
-
Must be able to solve problems related to fieldwork for surveying and mapping projects; supervise technicians and field crews on survey and mapping projects as well as attend required meetings.

Excellent communication skills.
Job Responsibilities:

Coordination of multiple projects and ensuring their successful completion.
-
Management and organization of field crews including scheduling, training, travel needs, etc.
-
Maintain a close working relationship with the field crews to assist with resolving issues and meet the overall goals and objectives of the project.

Manage the progression of work on during each phase of a project to ensure timeliness.
-
Maintaining a current inventory of field vehicles and equipment, as well as their maintenance and repair needs.
-
Process raw field data and generate/create topographic contours, staking base files, road alignments and foundation surveys.

Required Experience:
​
• 5+ years of experience in survey field work
• Knowledge of Trimble Robotics, Trimble GPS equipment, Trimble Survey Controller software
• Punctual and dependable
• Hardworking and detail-oriented
• Candidates must have a valid driver's license
• Candidates must be able to pass a background check and good driving record
• Candidate must be able to enter federal installations
• Experience with NCDOT or military surveying a plus
• PLS/SI preferred but not required

Job Responsibilities:

• Responsible for the operation of a field crew
• Demonstrate an ability to prepare field notes and manage field data files
• Turns in notes and field files daily
• Organize and maintain all equipment and vehicles
• Maintain good client relations to foster and perpetuate long-term relationships
• Manage and mentor field personnel to ensure that project objectives are met under budget and in a timely manner
• Work outdoors in all weather conditions

Required Experience:

No previous survey experience is required. Employee will be trained on the job.

Must be able to pass a background check and drug test.

A valid Driver’s License is required.

This is an entry level field crew position.

Assist crew chief with gathering survey information.

Be willing to work in extreme weather conditions.

Have the ability to travel for periods of time during the week.

Be willing to follow instructions.

Possess a strong work ethic.

Must be willing to learn about the various equipment used.

Must be able to lift at least 50lbs and do a great deal of walking.
Working conditions:
​
This job requires a person to have the ability to stand/walk for long periods of time. Be exposed to uneven terrain and all types of weather conditions being outside most of the workday. Good sense of direction.
